I'm a first time mommy to a baby boy born 6 weeks ago. I'm staying home for 12 weeks then go back to work for 8. After that it's summer break. I'm a teacher living in Phoenix, AZ. I'm loving being a mommy, but wish I had more new mommy's to talk to.

I have a 6 1/2 week old boy. And it is quite an adjustment I've found out. Once all the family leaves and husband goes to work it is lonely. Thank god for the internet-I feel somewhat still connected to the outside world with this little computer. I've found the days fly by, before I know it is 5:00, and I haven't brushed my teeth! Do you have a baby bjorn? I've noticed that helps with the always wanting to be held. It's usually an instant sleeper for them. Then the swaddling workds so well-People recommended the Happiest BAby on hte Block video. The steps in there helps them feel comforted. Welcome, I'm in Phoenix, but I love Orange County, used to live in Chapman.

He spits up after every feeding, sometimes it's all of the milk, others it's a little every 20 minutes. he kept crying all night and all day. I thought it was reflux, the np said it was surprising to develop that now. She thought he had a bug, but prescribed Zantac. Has anyone else delt with this similar sitruation and what happened, how long did it last, etc. Of course I am off dairy now (and I love Milk)!

Yesterday, I thought it helped, but last night he puked up everything twice, and then this morning the same thing. About a 1/2 hour after he spits everything up, he's hungry again-AND THE CYCLE REPEATS! It's very frustrating. But he is producing wet diapers and stools so I guess he's getting the nutrients needed. My question is-can the acid in the stomach hurt his esophagus from the repititive pukes?

Apparently this is really common-3 in 1,000 babies get it (usually first born males). It's been an emotional couple of days, but he's eating great and has a little spit up (which is common after surgery), but not much. He's been smiling like crazy all day today! Thank you for all of your advice. This is a new one for me-the mommy stress!
